ROSMY will be closed for Summer Vacation from June 30th to July 13th. We will reopen on July 14th and resume our normal schedule.
And no, we won't be at the beach. But it sure is a pretty picture, isn't it? The office will be operating normal hours. You can still reach us through the youth support line or by e-mail.

ROSMY GLBTQ Summer Recommended Reading Series
The ROSMY Steven Midgett Memorial Library would like to invite you to join us as we read titles from our first ROSMY GLBTQ Summer Recommended Reading Series. As part the on-going literacy initiative we will continue to recommend titles for our youth, adults and families which will reflect on the monthly topics discussed in our youth group sessions. We encourage you to explore the library, donate a title from the recommended list and share your love of literature with the youth and others in the Richmond GLBTQ community.
HIV-positive young people face a unique combination of issues related to their age and HIV status. Most HIV efforts targeting youth are based in education and screening, and don't focus on those who already have an HIV-positive diagnosis.
The Positive Youth Institute is an effort to train HIV-positive young people from across the country in the life skills required for good health. Workshops run the gamut of social and medical issues, and have
included: public presentation; resume building; creative arts; medical care and treatment, and body image. Workshops are taught by professionals in their respective fields.
California's Supreme Court declared gay couples in the nation's biggest state can marry — a monumental victory for the gay rights movement.
But religious and social conservatives are pressing to put a constitutional amendment on the ballot in November that would undo the Supreme Court ruling and ban gay marriage.
The National Day of Silence brings attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools. This year's event was featured in an article in the Metro section of the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
ROSMY youth and YEL member Farris was quoted in the article.
Recently Republican state Representative Sally Kern took to the floor of the Oklahoma legislature to speak on homosexuality. “I honestly think it’s the biggest threat our nation has, even more so than terrorism or Islam,” she said. Listen . . .
An adult supporter of ROSMY sent us that link to her speech. It's what we know you're up against. And it's why we're here. The mother of one of our youth wrote Representative Kern a response, which can be found here.
If you haven't been to ROSMY before, click the "I am new to ROSMY" link below and see what we have to offer. Then fill out the membership form. Then come join us.

ROSMY members discuss living life as gay teenagers.
ROSMY Youths Troung, Corey and Marquise recently spoke at Hyperlink Cafe. The discussion was recorded and posted on the website We Got Issues!!!
'We Got Issues' is an online chat show run by teens that focuses on issues of importance to today's youth. YEL (ROSMY's Youth Engaged in Leadership) was asked to sit on a panel and discuss life as a gay youth.

ROSMY creates online directory of GLBTQ resources!
ROSMY has compiled a list of resources available to GLBTQ youth and put their contact information online. We've added a new tab (the last one on the left) to let you access resource information when you need it!
The list includes religious organzations, social service providers, therapists, legal resources and other organizations that a GLBTQ youth or adult might need. ROSMY is in the process of identifying an adult contact for GLBTQ youth at all area middle and high schools which will be added to the page in the near future.
