ROSMY Youth Arts Initiative

The ROSMY Youth Arts Initiative brings the Arts to life for ROSMY youth. This winter, our youth will attend live performances and art exhibits throughout the Richmond community. GLBT musicians, directors, actors, artists and dancers will visit ROSMY to give the youth an inside look at their craft as well as sharing their success stories of overcoming obstacles in pursuit of their dreams.

HELP NEEDED: LGBT YOUTH - Speak out about your school experiences!

Help GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network) inform education policymakers and the public about what's really going on in our nation's schools by completing the 2009 National School Climate Survey, GLSEN's sixth national survey about the experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth in school. 

                
If you are identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT), attended high school or middle school sometime during the last school year (2008-2009) and are at least 13 years old, tell us about your experiences in school.  If you did not complete the entire school year you are still eligible.  The survey is completely anonymous.

Joining Facebook to promote 'You Know Different'

The award-winning 'You Know Different' campaign, which is designed to encourage youth of color to get tested for HIV, has added an online component on Facebook. By joining the 'You Know Different' page on Facebook, you could help spread the word about the campaign and even win a prize for yourself and your organization! To learn more, click here.

 

Become a trained ROSMY facilitator!

Work directly with GLBTQ youth ages 14-20 in a support group setting. You must be 23 years old or over to become a facilitator. An application and background check are required. Please e-mail Youth Programs Coordinator and Volunteer Manager Ashley Mitchell at youthprograms@rosmy.org to sign-up for training. This is a unique and great experience to work with youth who struggle with sexual orientation and gender identity. We look forward to seeing you there!
