Volunteers are the driving force
behind our success

All volunteers receive training and staff support to make the experience a rewarding one. Our volunteer opportunities are described below:

Youth Services – One of the most popular volunteer opportunities is with our Youth Services Program. This includes the facilitating our youth support groups, staffing our youth support line, and providing support for GLBTQ youth over the internet. All prospective youth services volunteers must complete an application and interview with our Program Coordinator, submit to a criminal background check, and participate in a training program. On-going training and supervision is provided by ROSMY staff.

Administrative Volunteers – If you have daytime hours available during the week or a weak spot for alphabetizing, consider becoming an administrative volunteer. ROSMY utilizes the services of reliable volunteers in the office setting to make sure the job gets done right.

Technology Support – As ROSMY shifts to a high-tech atmosphere new challenges will unfold. If you enjoy computer maintenance, troubleshooting, and creative problem solving, ROSMY needs your help.

Professional Services – ROSMY needs supporters with talents in graphic design, photography, marketing, accounting, legal advice, and volunteer training. If you have professional services to offer, please contact the ROSMY office.

Special Events – Successful events like the Annual Auction, Dining for the Future, and our educational conferences only happen with the support of dedicated volunteers. Whether you are a planner at heart and wish to serve on a committee, of if you are a worker-bee present on the day of the event, ROSMY needs you.

Board Membership – The ROSMY Board of Directors is a volunteer body that governs the policies of the agency. Board members are nominated by the Board Development Committee, are elected for two-year terms, and are expected to participate fully in agency activities. If you wish to apply for Board Membership, please contact our office.

Committee Membership – Much of the work ROSMY does is carried out under the guidance of committees, including the Public Education Committee, the Professional Services Committee, the Scholarship Committee, and the Development Committee. If you have some expertise you would like to share with ROSMY, serving on a committee offers a wonderful opportunity to work with other concerned professionals. Committee membership is granted by invitation of the committee chairperson.
