YOUTH, VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF EXPECT EVERYONE
TO DEMONSTRATE MATURITY BY:
BEING SUPPORTIVE
1) EMBRACE DIVERSITY! Welcome and get to know people of different ages, races, gender identities, sexual orientations, classes, political affiliations, abilities, religious or spiritual beliefs, and health status.
2) BE RESPECTFUL! Be a good listener by allowing everyone an opportunity to talk. Talk one at a time and only speak using "I" statements. Don't speak for anyone else. Speak for yourself without telling others what they "should" do.
BEING ENGAGING
3) RESPECT CONFIDENTIALITY! "Confidentiality" means always keeping the names, words and stories of ROSMY youth private. Don't talk about other ROSMY youth outside of group.
4) BE POLITE! Turn cell phones OFF during group. Cell phones are very disruptive. Even on "silent" or "vibrate", cell phone use during group is distracting and disrespectful to others.
BEING SAFE AND HEALTHY
5) BE SOBER! Drugs and alcohol will not be tolerated at any ROSMY event. Attendance will not be allowed at any ROSMY event while under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.
6) BE SAFE! Weapons, violence and harassment, whether verbal or physical, will not be tolerated at ROSMY. Address conflicts directly and calmly.
7) NO SMOKING! ROSMY is a smoke free property. Smoking is not allowed anywhere on ROSMY property. Please leave all tobacco products at home or in your cars. Please do not bring tobacco products into ROSMY.
BEING A FRIEND
8) BE A ROLE MODEL! Bring friends who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or questioning their sexuality or gender identity, between the ages of 14 and 20. Introduce yourself to new youth and help make everyone feel welcome.
9) BE ON TIME! ROSMY groups only meet for a limited time. Starting late reduces the time in which groups have to meet and late arrivals disrupt the group. Please respect the time commitment of others by arriving on time.
